Santa Central

This year we decided to visit Santa Central again in Newton. Santa Central is a house decorated like the North Pole. We started by putting our name on a waiting list at the door much like you would if you were going out to eat at a restaurant. We then went to pet and feed the animals (goats, llamas, camels and sheep) outside. Horse drawn carriage rides were offered too for a small fee, but we chose not to do that this year. After an 1 1/2 hour wait we finally got to go into the house. Our first stop was to have refreshments and to visit with Mrs. Clause. Then we were off to visit with one of Santa's elves. We also got to see Santa's bedroom and to see what his vacation plans were after Christmas! He had his clothes laid out and suitcase packed to vacation to Hawaii! Next we went into a toy room. There were toys of every kind...Trains, stuffed animals and a very old jack-in-the-box. And finally it was time to see Santa and have Abbie's picture made. She was able to tell him what she wished for(she forgot to tell the mall Santa she wanted roller skates). Lastly, we made reindeer food for Santa's reindeer. Such a fun tradition! Again, I can't wait until next years Santa Central.

Miracle on Main Street

In this year's Christmas play at church Abbie was a Christmas caroler and an angel. Every year, I look forward to seeing the kids in the play! You just never know what they will do or what will happen. During the dress rehearsal Abbie decided to pick her nose the entire time she was a caroler. Then she decided to play with straw and talk with Mary, Joseph and the other angels during the manger scene. Needless to say, I talked till I was blue in the face, threatened and bribed for her not to pick her nose on Sunday night when her whole family came to watch her. It worked and Abbie got a new Curious George coloring book as her reward!

Riding the train with Santa

On Saturday December 1st me, Mom, Dad and Abbie went to ride the train with Santa in Spencer, NC at the NC Transportation Museum. We had a great time! Daddy has always loved playing with Lionel electric trains so this trip was just as much a treat for him as for Abbie. Santa arrived in a red fire truck to board the train. On the 25 minute train ride we listened to Christmas music as Santa and his elves visited the children and handed out oranges and candy canes. After the adventurous ride we toured the museum. Then we headed for shopping at Concord Mills (much to my Dad's displeasure)! :)
I can't wait to visit the train museum again!

Mall Santas

On Friday, November 23rd we went to see our 1st "Mall Santa". Me, mom and Abbie went to Northlake Mall. Abbie did really well. She wasn't scared and talked to him quite a bit. He was a very realistic looking Santa! Very nice!!! We ended up seeing about 4 "Mall Santa's" this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas to all!

The next round of posts all have to do with our Christmas festivities, fun and getting ready for Santa!

Thanksgiving 2007

On Thanksgiving day we went to Michael's Mom and Dad's for lunch. We had a full house and Michael's mom fixed so much good food! That night we had my parents, my mam aw and Mr. M her husband over to our house for dinner. Although, I was still full from gorging myself at lunch we had a terrific meal all prepared by my talented cook of a husband. We have so much to be thankful for and being with family and friends reminded me of that.

Abbie's 4th Birthday

On Sunday October 14th Abigail Marie Job turned 4 years old. Abbie decided she wanted a Strawberry Shortcake birthday at Chuck E. Cheese's. She invited many of her friends and family including her boyfriend Berkley from daycare. We had a GREAT time eating pizza, playing games and dancing with Chuck E. She got some really cool gifts (Barbie's, Lite Brite, movies and a scooter--just to name a few of the many things). She is already planning her 6th Birthday !!!!

Cleo

Here are some pictures of Abbie's first fish Cleo. Cleo is a red beta fish. Abbie is so proud to have her very own fish, even though I am the one who feeds it and changes its water.

Halloween 2007

This year for Halloween Abbie was a pink poodle. On Halloween night we went to downtown Maiden with a friend of ours Lesley, Ady(took dance with Abbie) and brand new baby Aldyn. We had a lot of fun! The town decided to block off main street so there wouldn't be any accidents with children running out in the street getting hurt. So, everyone was able to walk in the street as well as the sidewalk--it made it a lot easier to get around considering there was 1,000+ people trick-or-treating. We started our fun night at the Fall Carnival at Cornerstone Church. They had hot dogs, cupcakes and popcorn. They also had games and animals to pet.

Then on the Saturday after Halloween, we had our Fall Festival at church. Abbie had a blast on the GIANT inflatable slide, playing games, hayride and trunk-or-treat.

One things for sure, we definitely have enough candy to last the whole year!

Catching up on my posts

Okay, now I'm really behind on all the happening with the Job family. I have to posts on many events that have taken place over the last two months....

Girls trip to Washington, DC
On Friday October 5th me, Courtney and Courtney's two friends Natalie and Jennifer went to Washington, DC. Some of the things we did :
  • Visited the Washington monument-rode the elevator to the top to look out over the horizon.
  • Went to Madame Trudeau's wax museum to have our pictures made with some very famous and infamous people. It was opening day so we got really cheap!
  • Got to visit the White House!!! Our good friend Deanna was able to get us in to see the President leave on Marine One. We went through a lot of security through the back entrance to stand on the South Lawn. Definitely the best part of the weekend!!!
  • Briefly toured the National History Museum -saw the Hope diamond.
  • Toured the Holocaust Museum-very moving.....
  • Visited Arlington Cemetery saw the Kennedy's' graves and saw the changing of the Guard.
  • Went to each of the monuments. WWII, Vietnam, Lincoln, Iwo Jima, and my least favorite the Korean(very spooky). We saw all of these VERY late Saturday night.

We had such a great time. I was glad I was so fortunate to experience this trip!
